As we age our facial skin starts to sag, and wrinkles will begin to appear (thanks to the sun, gravity, and other factors). A facelift has been the main approach used to improve the laxity of the skin. This surgery is very effective; however, it is invasive, involves downtime, and poses side effects that could occur. Dermatology Associates is pleased to offer Ultherapy®. It is the only non-invasive procedure approved by the FDA to lift the skin on the brow, under the chin, and the neck.
What is so unique about Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is an innovative device that delivers ultrasound energy that tightens the skin without the use of needles or scalpels. Keep in mind, however, that Ultherapy does not give the same results as surgery. Ultherapy may be ideal for those who are unable or unwilling to pursue facial surgery and for patients looking for noticeable but natural results.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is an ultrasound procedure, specifically indicated by the FDA, for the face and neck that stimulates the body’s own skin healing response to gently and progressively lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the chest area. Using this ultrasound technology enables providers to see and treat the deepest layers of the skin without disrupting the surface of the skin. Allowing the provider to see the layers of the targeted tissue ensures the energy is placed where it would be most beneficial.
How does Ultherapy work?
Ultherapy delivers the appropriate amount of ultrasound energy at the right depths and temperature using traditional ultrasound imaging.
This triggers a response under the skin that stimulates the renewal process producing fresh, new collagen.
What kind of results are expected?
The Ultherapy treatment usually takes around 90 minutes. Patients are able to return to normal activities right after their Ultherapy treatment. There are some patients who may see some initial results, but the final outcome will take place gradually over the course of 2-3 months as the body naturally stimulates its own collagen and elastin production. The lifting process begins after just one Ultherapy treatment! How long the results last depends on the individual. Improvement can even appear 6-months after a procedure as the process of collagen-building continues. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the individual’s natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.
While the results do not duplicate those of surgery, Ultherapy’s gradual improvements make it a compelling option for people who have mild to moderate skin laxity as well as those who want to “stay ahead of the game” or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
More than 100,000 Ultherapy treatments have been performed worldwide and Dermatology Associates is pleased to be at the forefront in the U.S. medical aesthetics industry by offering treatments.
