Providence Academy hosts 2017 Christian Storytelling Festival with Featured Guest, Danny Gokey for an evening of Stories and Song

Christian Storytelling Festival with Featured GuestProvidence Academy will be featuring Dove Award winner and BMG recording artist Danny Gokey at the 11th Annual Christian Storytelling Festival on August 26, 2017. Gokey became a favorite of millions of fans as a Top 3 finalist on Season 8 of American Idol. Gokey released his debut album, My Best Days, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. Danny added author to his credits with the release of his inspirational memoir, Hope in Front of Me, in October 2013. His chart topping single shares its name with the book and had four consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Christian chart, with this album hitting the Billboard CCM chart at #1 in its first week of release. His Christmas project, entitled Christmas Is Here, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Holiday Albums chart. His third single, “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again,” held a multi-week run at #1 on Billboard’s CCM chart. Gokey’s newest album, Rise, released this January has already seen a Billboard #1 with his lead single, “Rise.”

Losing his wife just one month prior to auditioning for Idol, Gokey is no stranger to suffering.  Remarried and a father, Gokey stands in a different place now but has a passion to encourage others; he will share stories about God and his life that have inspired his music.

The Christian Storytelling Festival
The Christian Storytelling Festival is a fundraiser, a “friend raiser,” and also a chance to celebrate storytelling with a Christian worldview.  All proceeds go to support the Providence Academy need-based Annual Scholarship Fund.  This fund supports approximately 20% of the school’s students who would not be able to receive a Christ-centered and classical education without community support.  The 2017-2018 Annual Scholarship Fund goal is $300,000.  For more details, contact Director of Development Mark Koscak at (423) 854-9819 or mkoscak@providenceacademy.com.
