Yes, it’s a Restaurant chain. No it’s not some trendy indie diner with recycled barnwood on the walls. And, yes, it is attempting, successfully it seems, to persuade consumers that you can have tasty, appealing, fast food, without a French Fry, Pancake, side of Bacon or Burger in sight.
Zoe’s Kitchen which started in Alabama some 20 years ago, has focussed on creating a menu allied closely to the Mediterranean Diet. Fortuitous, as this Diet was voted “Best Diet” in 2017 by US News. And it’s not hard to see why. Based very much on fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats and salads, Zoe’s Kitchen makes a good effort at packaging and presenting it in an appetizing way for the hungry ‘grab and go’ consumer.
Appetizers include: Hummus or Lamb Kafta, Entrees cover Soup and Salad, Kabobs, Sandwiches and Pitas. Plus, a great idea for picky for the “I don’t know what
I like” eaters: small and large ‘Family Plates’ where you get a great selection of tasters from the Menu.
From my visit, I can recommend the Hummus, and the Rustic Lamb Pita was extremely tasty with a pretty spicy dressing!
Their desserts feature a light and very addictive Chocolate Cake, a worthy reward for eating a wholesome main course.
Their Blog is also worth reading, offering ideas and recipes on how to create their meals at home. Not sure if McDonalds offers the same information about their Menu?
Price for two was an acceptable $9.00. And if you can’t make it to their restaurants, they’ll deliver.
Zoe’s Kitchen has locations in
Murfreesboro, Green Hills, Belle Meade, Franklin and Brentwood
